Crossroads

The project “Crossroads” was continuation of Youth Council’s Krusevac previous project “Count on us”; it lasted from February until October 2011, and it was supported by Swiss organization Swiss Labour Assistance.

The aim of the project was to contribute to social inclusion of young female offenders and ex offenders from Correctional Home for Juveniles in Krusevac through education about employability, supporting the process of their employment and adaptation to work conditions after they leave the institution. We worked on enhancement of knowledge about employability with young female offenders in the institution, and on providing support to ex female offenders in Serbia in active job search.

Young offenders had the opportunity to visit three different firms in Serbia, to get to know the process of fabrication and hear about the decent work conditions.
The innovation on this project was our work on field, as we were visiting ex young offenders throughout Serbia that we already worked with in Correctional Home. We supported them in their process of active job search, and our goal was to raise the awareness about the importance of starting the probation service in Serbia, which would provide such services to ex offenders.
