EVS - Mellerud meets Europe

Within the European Voluntary Service (EVS) programme, young people can spend up to 12 months abroad as European volunteers helping in local projects in various fields. EVS represents Action 2 of the Youth in Action Programme.
In September 2012 Youth Council Krusevac has started its first EVS project as a sending organization. In cooperation with Swedish organizations, Europa Direkt Fyrbodal and Melleruds Kommun, our volunteer started his one year long EVS within the project “Mellerud meets Europe”
He will volunteer at the Citizens Contact Center (CCC) in Municipality of Mellerud and there he will be given various tasks to work with. He will also work with young people in the municipality, schools, youth clubs and on developing cultural activities. Our volunteer is considered as a support person to the regular staff working in the CCC, and will bring a European dimension to the work and to the office.
By taking part in the EVS programme the young people show initiative and take an active part to exercise their rights as European citizens. They are not only representatives of their home country, but at the same time they are European citizens, showing us and all the other people who get involved with the volunteers that we can take part in the different opportunities that the European Union offers to its citizens.
